Puerto Vallarta: Beer!

Beer’s Here!

It should be no secret in Puerto Vallarta but we will honestly admit, we were shocked when we found out that Mexico surpassed Germany in brewing beer last year. It turns out Mexico is now the fourth globally in the production of beer!
Though Cinco de Mayo is no holiday in Mexico, it is a cause for celebration in the United States (even though if you ask, no one knows why) and with these types of anomalous festivities, you can be sure there is a lot of brew that heads north of the border.

Our own Corona factory here in Puerto Vallarta is huge and a great source of employment for the city. Modelo also has a presence in Puerto Vallarta. These two brands join others such as Tecate, Sol, Dos Equis, Estrella and Montejo for world recognition. Beer from Mexico is exported to over 180 countries and reports the greatest in worldwide growth, with China and the UK at the top of the list of importers

Most of our friends agree there is nothing compares to an icy bucket of beer on the beach in Puerto Vallarta for a break in the day and to watch the sun sink into the horizon. Mexican beer has a drinkability that many beer drinkers are fond of because the alcohol content is more moderate than many popular beers.

Regardless of political tremors from the US and rumors of a threatened wall, investments in Mexico have not decreased and the beer industry is no exception. Economically speaking, there is no sign of a slowdown and the domestic market in beverages and all consumer goods is on the rise. In Puerto Vallarta we have no reason to suspect this will change or decelerate in the future.

Some claim that the beer we drink in Puerto Vallarta tastes so good because of the water and though we’ve had a good laugh with that, we have discovered there is a bit of truth to this suggestion. When brewing beer, it’s very important to have the correct PH balance in the water, which is found in the mash. With a light beer, which is what most Mexican beers are, a lower PH is required so it takes some very intricate sets of measures to get it just right. For those who’ve tried to make homebrew, this will be evident. The hard water in Mexico inevitably changes the process of the mash. So you can thank Mexican water for that fine tasting brew! Salud!

Que es cómo es.
